SAWL co-hosted a panel with the Women of Ascend at the annual Ascend conference. Successful female executives shared their experiences and mentored Asian Women in small groups. They discussed the challenges they have faced, the choices they have made, and the lessons they have learned while building a successful career and maintaining an enriching personal life. Terri Fujii, Managing Partner, Honolulu Office, Ernst & Young LLP, moderated the discussion. Iris Chan, EVP, Head of Commercial Banking, Wells Fargo, Van Dang, Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Cisco Systems, and Susanna Kass, Serial Entrepreneur & Former Chief Operating Officer, eBay International, shared their experiences.
SAWL's First Annual Awards Gala (McCormick & Kuleto's Seafood Restaurant, San Francisco, CA)

SAWL hosted an enchanting evening of cocktails and dinner overlooking the panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay. Thuy Vu, news reporter for local CBS 5 - and SAWL member - led us through this magical journey. Guests met outstanding Asian American women leaders who received SAWL's highest honors - Jenny Ming, former President of Old Navy (Leadership Award), Anna Mok, Partner at Deloitte & Touche (Community Service Award), and Uyanga Jigjidsuren, international student from Mongolia (SAWL Scholarship Award). Attendees enjoyed our silent auction featuring many one-of-a-kind items, from travel awards to indulgent gifts, such as a year's supply of Dreyer's ice cream.
National Asian American Society of Accountants' "Inspiring Across Generations" Conference (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL was a community sponsor for the NAASA-SF's 2007 conference, which featured leadership and mentorship programs for both young and seasoned professionals along with an opportunity for community partners and corporate sponsors to meet members and conference attendees. Anna Mok, SAWL member and President of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of NAASA, led this event.
A Merry SAWL Cocktail Party and Toy Drive for the Chinatown Community Children's Center (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL hosted a holiday toy drive and mixer to benefit the Chinatown Community Children's Center, one of San Francisco's oldest non-profits dedicated to helping new immigrant and bilingual/bicultural families integrate into American society and gain economic stability while maintaining their cultural identity.
Bay Meadows: A Day at the Races (San Mateo, CA)
SAWL hosted a Day at the Races at the Bay Meadows Race Track, offering its members and friends the opportunity to network at this aging bastion in the community.
SAWL Holiday Mixer Benefiting Bay Area Women's and Children's Center (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL kicked off the holiday season with a mixer to benefit BAWCC, which serves the needs of low-income families, children, and women in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin district. www.bawcc.org
SAWL Cocktail Hour and 80s Dance Party for Chinatown Community Children's Center (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL hosted a Cocktail Hour and '80s Dance Party to benefit the Chinatown Community Children's Center, which provides childcare and other social services to meet the needs of new immigrant and bilingual/bicultural families in San Francisco.
San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL co-sponsored film "Grace Lee" at the Annual SFIAFF Film Festival (2005) to support Asian American women in film.
SAWL Holiday Soiree Benefiting Wu Yee Children's Services (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL welcomed guests to a holiday wine tasting soiree to benefit Wu Yee Children's Services in San Francisco's Chinatown, which provides a wide array of programs and services to low-income families and children. www.wuyee.org
SAWL Fundraiser for Girls on the Run (San Francisco, CA)
To support Girls on the Run San Francisco, a non-profit organization that combines training for a 5K running race with healthy living education, SAWL held a cocktail fundraiser. Girls on the Run seeks to instill in girls self-esteem and strong values through health education, life skills development, mentoring relationships, and physical training. www.gotrsf.org
Korean American Community Services - 25th Silver Anniversary Gala (San Jose, CA)
SAWL supported KACS' 25th Silver Anniversary celebration. KACS, which was established to serve Korean-American seniors in Silicon Valley, offers a senior nutrition program, child abuse prevention program, citizenship program, caregiver support program and ESL classes.
SAWL College & Career Panels for Asian Student Volunteers (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL conducted a half-day mentorship event for a group of high school and college students who serve as volunteer tutors at the Asian Women's Resource Center. The students, primarily Asian immigrants, participated in panels covering college, career and personal stories of acculturation.
Chinatown Community Children's Center - Spring Gala (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL served as a sponsor of the Chinatown Community Children's Center's Spring Gala, to benefit one of San Francisco's oldest existing non-profit Chinese bilingual and bicultural childcare centers.
National Asian American Telecommunications Association's Private Film Screening (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL co-sponsored and co-presented this event to support NAATA in its efforts to present stories reflecting the diversity of the Asian American experience.
SAWL Toy Drive Benefiting the Edgewood Center for Children and Families (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL held a toy drive for the kids of Edgewood, the oldest children's charity in the western United States. Edgewood is a residential treatment center for severely emotionally disturbed, abused, and neglected children. www.edgewoodcenter.org
SAWL Charity Concert Benefiting Chase Child Life Program (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL hosted a charity concert benefiting the Chase Child Life Program - a program focused on addressing the emotional, social and developmental needs of hospitalized children through therapeutic play, art-making and music.
SAWL Cocktail Benefit for ROOM TO READ (San Francisco, CA)
SAWL held cocktail fundraiser benefiting ROOM TO READ's scholarship program. ROOM TO READ's mission is to provide under-privileged children with an opportunity to gain the lifelong gift of education.
Professional Business Women of California National Convention (San Jose & San Francisco, CA)

SAWL Toy Drive/Holiday Fundraiser Benefiting Asian Women's Shelter (Palo Alto, CA)
SAWL hosted a catered holiday dinner and toy drive benefiting the San Francisco Asian Women's Shelter. Hundreds of toys were collected for the benefit of children housed at the shelter.
SAWL Autumn Recital Benefiting NAWHO (San Francisco Community Music Center)
SAWL hosted a charity recital benefiting the National Asian Women's Health Organization, based in San Francisco.
