About Us

The Society of Asian Women Leaders is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community service organization dedicated to fostering the building of relationships among Asian American women who share the mission of excellence in leadership, service and charity.  Founded in 2001, the group is made up of Asian American professionals, whose experiences span a variety of fields, including health care, law, finance, media, public relations, marketing, engineering, e-commerce and technology.

SAWL grew out of the shared aspiration of a group of Bay Area Asian American women. They envisioned a community of Asian American women professionals who would come together to share their experiences, mentor others and serve the Asian American community. On that basis, SAWL was founded and its vision defined: to build a service organization of Asian American women whose commitment to one another, the community, and the next generation creates an enduring "sisterhood" for its members and develops future generations of Asian American women leaders.

Since its inception, SAWL has continued to grow and provide leadership development opportunities. In addition, the group has raised funds for a number of community organizations as well as supported various events serving women and children in the Bay Area.
